This week on “Introducing…” please welcome Miss Irenie Rose into your life. Miss Irenie Rose is a singer songwriter from the Western Isles whose quirky style has been compared to the likes of Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez.
Irenie Rose McTaggart was brought up and lives on the beautiful Isle of Lewis. She has been learning guitar and songwriting since early 2010 and later that same year started performing live spurred on by her elder sister and fellow songsmith Elsa Jean McTaggart.
Her influences range from the music she was surrounded by in her house whilst growing up to old musicals and Disney classics. Irenie performed at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and also at goNORTH in Inverness in June this year and has supported a string of acts on her home turf including Nathaniel Rateliff, Pete Roe, Ben Howard, Karima Francis, Rachel Sermanni and Rae Morris.
Since Belladrum and goNORTH she has been picked up by Ally Macrae on Radio 1 and Scotland Introducing with Vic Galloway and has been recording a demo that she plans please to release soon.
We were lucky enough to capture Irenie is session for goNORTH at Belladrum and you can see one of the videos from the session below.
You can find out more about Miss Irenie Rose and listen to her on Facebook and Soundcloud
