For this “Introducing…” we bring you a band from central Scotland (Glasgow/Stirling to be precise) who have released their stonker of a new single for free!

The band in question, Johnny & The Giros have released a free download of their latest single I Don’t Need A Lover via Dead Hand Records.  Also featured on our latest podcast.

The PR blurb states the band draw from a diverse range of influences, including Foals, LCD Soundsystem, Bloc Party, The Rapture, Yeasayer and Two Door Cinema Club to create their very own polished dance floor indie gems.  Whilst I agree with that there are also elements of early U2 and a hint of The Clash in the opening chords of the track.

I Don’t Need A Lover is clearly a release that puts the 6 piece at the top of their game right now and could well be their best output since forming in 2009.
