The Best of Twenty12 – Part 2

Here’s Part 2 of our tracks of 2012. It’s a mixcast this time, so you have 36 minutes of marvellous music without us talking nonsense. Like Part 1, it’s another selection of 10 songs that we’ve loved this year and played relentlessly on the podcast and our ipods. No punches were thrown in the compiling of this list. Just a few mild swear words. Enjoy.

Something that wasn’t intentional with our 20 tracks of 2012 is that all the artists on our list are Scottish. A testimony of sorts to the strength of Scotland’s music scene in 2012 and it can only be encouraging for 2013. Makes you proud to be Scottish.

Below are the 10 tracks/artists featured on part 2 of our Best of TWENTY12 Part 2 mixcast.

If you’ve not already, go and listen to Best of TWENTY12 Part 1

Tracks of 2012 Part 2:

GARDEN OF ELKS – This Morning We Are Astronauts
The Mouse That Ate The Cat – 40 Years From Now
Cleavers – This Rain will Never End
Fatherson – First Born
Anna Sweeney – Don’t Look Down
Michael Cassidy – Everybody’s Scared
Honeyblood – Super Rat
Chris Devotion & The Expectations – I Need Your Touch
Capitals – Jealousy
Esperi – Homer

Best albums of 2012.

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for – Netsounds Unsigned’s favourite albums of 2012!

The list has been compiled following an extensive poll of Jamie and Murray’s record collection from the past year.  No-one else has been consulted, so there!

Every year we publish a list of emerging acts that have won us over, and fear not that list is still to come before the year is over.  In addition, this year we have also decided to share our list of best albums from 2012.  As fans of Sonic Death Monkey and Kathleen Turner Overdrive will appreciate, we love a good list.

For our list of albums of 2012 we are going to be a bit controversial.  This is a list that includes acts who are signed and dare we say it have already emerged!  “Netsounds Sell Out” read the headlines.  Truth is, as much as we love hearing or seeing a new band live we do do listen to acts that are more established.  There you go, we’ve said it.  Gone are your images of us relentlessly absorbing music from bands that don’t even exist yet.  We’ve sold our soul.  Well, not really.  These are our own personal choices, the albums that we have listened to and enjoyed the most in 2012.  Maybe you have to.

Episode 21 – Jocktoberfest!

Let’s be honest, our podcast this week sounds like it was recorded inside a cardboard box.

That’s what you call a quality control warning. However, let’s put that to one side because the music is bloody brilliant!
